Individual therapy is extremely tailored and personalized to each individual. Sessions last about 50 minutes and in each session we will talk about your goals and what is preventing you from achieving them. At your own pace, we will talk about the past wounds you have suffered, and how you can heal from them. You can expect me to listen closely to everything you say, as well as what you don’t say, to give you some insight into why you are feeling this way.
My approach to therapy goes beyond just talking. I will also show you specific techniques that you can use to manage intense emotions and urges that cause you distress.
These techniques draw on the principles of mindfulness and are intended to increase your ability to accept your emotions and take steps to address them in a positive way. This will help you feel better in your day to day life. It can also help you approach your relationships in a way that maintains self-respect and allows you to experience others as a source of comfort and positive emotions.
